Only what you give us: your name, work email, company and role brief when you request a shortlist; your name, email, LinkedIn profile, specialisation, rate expectation and availability when you apply to join the contractor network; and the ordinary records of any engagement that follows. We do not buy data, scrape profiles or build lists.
To respond to you, run the placement or engagement you asked about, and meet our legal obligations. Contractor details are used to assess fit and match roles - a contractor's profile is shared with a client only with that contractor's explicit approval, per role. Nobody is added to a marketing sequence - there isn't one.
This site sets no advertising cookies and runs no third-party trackers. Standard server logs (IP address, pages requested) may be kept by our hosting provider for security and operation of the site.
We do not sell or trade personal information. We share it only with the service providers needed to run the business - website hosting, form delivery and email, document hosting, and payroll processing for placed contractors - or where the law requires. Client data handled during an engagement is governed by that engagement's contract, which takes precedence over this policy.
Personal information is stored on access-controlled systems and kept only as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected, or as required by Australian law.
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it - email hello@blackocean.io and we will respond within 30 days. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
